Photo Revive ("the App") restores old photographs using AI. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your data. Short version: we collect as little as technically possible, and your photos are deleted right after processing.
When you confirm a restoration, the selected photo is uploaded over an encrypted connection to our AI restoration service for processing. Once the restored result is returned to your device, the uploaded file is deleted from the processing server. Your photos are:
Restoring old family photos may involve enhancing faces that appear in the photographs you choose to restore. This section explains our handling of face data in detail.
What face data is involved. The App does not collect, extract, store, or index facial feature data, face templates, biometric identifiers, facial geometry, or any other structured face data. The only face-related information processed is the pixel region of a human face that appears within the JPEG image file you voluntarily select for restoration. This is treated as part of the image and is never separated, detected, analyzed, or recognized as a face.
How it is used. The selected image is uploaded to our AI restoration service to produce a restored version of the same image. The AI may enhance clarity, reduce noise, repair damage, and adjust tones across the entire image, including face regions. The App is designed to preserve the original facial features, expression, and identity of any person in the photo. We do not perform facial analysis, facial recognition, face swapping, beautification (unless you explicitly enable the optional skin-smoothing toggle), or any modification of facial structure.
Third-party processing. Image restoration is performed by Alibaba Cloud (DashScope) AI service. The selected photo is transmitted to Alibaba Cloud over an encrypted HTTPS connection and processed on Alibaba Cloud servers located in mainland China. Alibaba Cloud processes the image solely to return the restored result to your device and is contractually prohibited from using your photos or face data for any other purpose.
Retention and deletion. The uploaded image is retained only for the short time required to complete processing (typically seconds to a few minutes). Once the restored result is returned to your device, the uploaded file is immediately deleted from Alibaba Cloud's processing servers. We do not retain copies of uploaded images or face data on our servers or your device.
Consent. Before your first restoration, the App displays a clear consent dialog explaining that your photo will be uploaded to Alibaba Cloud for AI processing and that faces in the photo will be enhanced as part of the image. Restoration begins only after you tap "I Agree."
Credit packs are sold through Apple In-App Purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see or store your payment information. Purchase records are managed by Apple and can be viewed in your Apple ID account. Credits are counted locally on your device.
The App stores your remaining credit count and preference settings locally (Keychain / UserDefaults). Your photo library is never modified; restored images are saved only when you choose to save them. Uninstalling the App removes locally stored preferences.
Each restored image is written with an "AI-restored" metadata label, in line with deep-synthesis content labeling requirements, so restored results are not mistaken for untouched originals.
The App does not collect personal data from anyone, including children. It is intended for restoring family photographs that you own or are authorized to use.
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new date before the change takes effect.
