SmartMemo is designed with privacy at its core. All AI inference — including MiniCPM-V multimodal analysis and speech recognition — runs entirely on your device. Your data never leaves your iPhone.

Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do NOT collect any personal information
- We do NOT transmit your TODO items, notes, or photos to any server
- We do NOT track your usage or behavior
- We do NOT require account registration
- We do NOT contain advertising SDKs
- We do NOT share any data with third parties
On-Device Processing
SmartMemo uses the following technologies, all processed locally on your device:
- llama.cpp + Metal GPU: Local AI inference engine for running MiniCPM-V model
- MiniCPM-V: On-device multimodal language model for image understanding
- Apple Vision Framework: System-level OCR for text recognition from photos
- Apple Speech Framework: Voice-to-text transcription
All processing occurs on-device. No AI computation is performed on remote servers.
Permissions We Request
- Camera: To take photos for OCR text recognition and AI image analysis
- Photo Library: To select existing photos for recognition
- Microphone: To record voice input for speech-to-text transcription
- Speech Recognition: To process voice recordings into text
All permission data is processed locally. You may deny any permission; related features will be disabled.
Data Storage
Your TODO items and notes are stored locally on your device using Swift Data (Apple's local database framework). This data is never transmitted externally and is included in your iCloud Backup if you have iCloud enabled (this is controlled by your iOS settings, not by SmartMemo).
Children's Privacy
SmartMemo does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. As we collect no personal data from any users, there are no special concerns regarding children's privacy.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in an updated version on this page. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
